Build an engineering culture
Are you a Head of Engineering, VP or a solid Engineering Leader running a large team?
You’ve loved creating a world class Engineering culture and driving Engineering best practices but rather than leading a team of people, you can see yourself adding the most value by building a tech strategy?
Opportunities to do that are few and far between… usually once you get to the level of delivering on your strategy, you inherit or are expected to build a team.
How about if you were given the chance to stick to the tech that you love, but influence the culture across 1400 technologists rather than manage them?
Well, this is your chance. You could be joining one of Australia’s leading tech companies in a newly created role to do just that.
You’ll be influential, you’ll set the backend architectural technical strategy at group level and you’ll upskill the community. You’ll get people excited and show them there is a different way to do things.
This a key role in a key player in the Australian tech market and so you’ll have clout. You’ll be working with executive level stakeholders and so knowing your stuff, looking for opportunities and being able to convince a pretty exceptional and senior group of people that your approach is the right one will be important.
It doesn’t stop there though - you’ll be rolling your ideas out to the wider team and you’ll be seen across the business as the go-to person for frontend. Your ability to influence will make Dale Carnegy proud.
This is an opportunity which doesn’t come up often and will be a big role. If you read the following and you think “that’s me”, there’s a good chance it could be the next role for you:
- You thrive by building an exceptional Engineering culture - you know a happy team is a productive team.
- You’ve come from a solid technical background and solved complex backend problems at scale - Experience across Node.js and .NET
- You are part of the external tech community, you speak at meetups and attend conferences.
- You’ve led a large team in the past and understand the enterprise level challenges that come with that.
- You love to positively influence those around you - from the exec team to grads in their first week, you have their respect.
To reiterate, this isn’t a people management role and it isn’t hands-on but to build an incredible Engineering culture, you need to know first hand how people and technology work.
