As a Senior Field Structural Engineer, you will be responsible for providing site engineering support during construction phase of the project. You are required to complete designs, adjust designs, and interpret designs to meet site conditions. Also, provide final approval of completed construction tasks to ensure construction conforms to design and specifications. 

What you’ll do

Your Role:

• Lead safety efforts by promoting safety tools and ensuring all work adheres to safety protocols.
• Participate in and support the Projects’ Safety Program and FRM requirements through, safety walks, attending safety reviews, safety input into procedures, designs and pre commissioning activities.
• Perform field engineering tasks and assess environmental and human influences on loads and pressures.
• Adjust designs as needed for construction changes and ensure contractors meet quality standards.
• Provide technical support and assist in resolving technical issues as they arise.
• Assist QA/QC department to solve any related Engineering issues to ensure that Non-Conformance Reports and Corrective Actions are prepared, collated and that they are closed out prior to Turnover.
• Participate in punch list walkdowns and ensure prompt resolution of identified issues.
• Ensure all systems are ready for commissioning and documentation is complete.
• Review and approve documentation for field tests.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Engineering Manager.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Modify designs to accommodate construction changes and create structural models using CAD software.
• Prepare work packages including project plans, procedures, and instructions.
• Follow safety guidelines and select materials based on structural requirements.
• Address customer needs and assist with technical queries during construction.
• Conduct inspections, collaborate with contractors and other teams, and complete outstanding design tasks.

What you’ll have

• Lots of experience as a Structural Design and Field Engineer, especially on Mining projects. Knowing about Shafts and Underground work is a bonus.
• Knowledge of concrete and structures used in mining construction, and the ability to talk to everyone on site.
• Friendly and confident, with good communication skills (both written and spoken), and careful about details.
• A Civil Engineering degree would be great, plus being a member of Engineers Australia and having Chartered Professional Engineer Status.
• Strong commitment to health and safety, leading by example for the project team.
• Following all safety rules for the project and making sure Safety in Design procedures are followed.
• Participating in workshops about how easy it is to build, operate, and maintain things, and making sure workplaces are safe and healthy.
• Knowing how to set up and use engineering management systems and tools.
• Being good with software like MS Office, and knowing other relevant software.
• Great at talking and writing, including giving presentations and being part of team meetings.
• Being proactive, focused on goals, paying close attention to details, and always meeting project needs.
