Senior Finance Business Analyst

  • Employment Type: Full time (35 hours per week)
  • Duration: Continuing
  • Remuneration: Level 9 $138,171 - $146,613 (depending on experience) + 17% super + leave loading
  • Location: Kensington, NSW (Hybrid)

Why Your Role Matters:
The Senior Finance Business Analyst delivers financial management activities, including financial planning, forecasting, consolidation and reporting across all funding sources, data analysis, financial modelling and adhoc reporting.
The Finance Business Partnering team is accountable for providing end-to-end finance services to Faculties and Divisions, including financial planning, forecasting and reporting, financial analysis and decision support, general accounting and transactional services across all funding sources.
The Senior Finance Business Analyst position reports to the Finance Manager and has no direct reports.
Accountabilities:
  • Provide complex financial, budget and associated reporting activities through delivery of financial management activities including planning, forecasting, reporting, and analysis activities, working with relevant stakeholders and customers.
  • Undertake complex financial modelling and scenario analysis to support decision making
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders and customers to support the development of business area financial plans, report financial performance and monitor expenditure across operational, strategic and external funds.
  • Provide innovative analytical recommendations and strategic solutions to stakeholder queries and issues to deliver advice that is aligned with customer expectations.
  • Proactively identify, report and manage financial risks and opportunities through regular monitoring and analysis.
  • Provide strategic financial advice using a variety of techniques and integrating relevant information from multiple sources.
  • Undertake financial modelling and cost benefit analysis activities in the development of business cases.
  • Provide training and support to customers and stakeholders to ensure financial processes and responsibilities are understood.
Who You Are:
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline, CA or CPA qualification (or equivalent) and relevant professional sector experience.
  • Substantial experience in core and complex financial management and financial control processes, insight driven analysis and modelling, providing actionable operational advice and delivering financial services in a complex organisation.
  • Proven experience in working autonomously and proactively to identify and deliver innovative insights and models to drive business performance.
  • Demonstrated ability to rapidly absorb information and utilise it to analyse, interpret and integrate ambiguous and complex data.
  • Strong audience appropriate communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Advanced working knowledge of analytical tools, in particular, a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel and its application in financial modelling and analysis as well as computer applications, enterprise systems, and the delivery of reports and presentations.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities.
