About Strive
Founded in 1996 as Landsdale Family Support Association Inc., our original purpose was to provide respite camps for children with disabilities at Landsdale Farm School. In 2009 we changed our name to Family Support WA Inc, as we expanded our services to include young adults.
Over the last 25 years, we have grown to provide several services to people of all ages with disabilities, as well as now running Landsdale Farm. In November 2021, we became Strive Community Services Inc., to better reflect the wide range of community services we provide.
Primary Purpose of the Position:
An exciting opportunity exists to join our Finance Team in a part-time (0.6FTE) Senior Finance Officer position. This position would suit an experienced Finance Officer who is looking for a varied and rewarding role across all financial functions including Payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivables and NDIS claiming.
We are looking for a friendly, professional, detail-focused team player to join our dedicated finance team. Reporting to the General Manager - Finance, the Senior Finance Officer is solely responsible for the accurate processing and management of Payroll and NDIS funding payment runs, whilst also providing support and assistance to the Accounts Payable and Receivables functions.
This pivotal role requires strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders, sound problem solving, and proficiency in booking/accounting skills ensuring compliance of financial records and accuracy are maintained. Knowledge and applied experience within the NDIS sector will be highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
- Calculate and process payroll for employees, ensuring accuracy in salaries, taxes, deductions and compliance with Awards, agreements and contracts.
- Creating and maintaining personnel and payroll records for all employees.
- Processing applications for annual leave, long service leave, sick leave, special leave and other types of leave.
- Providing advice to employees on personnel and payroll matters.
- Processing the fortnightly NDIS funding submissions, assisting with accurate & timely issuing of Private/Self-Managed invoices, and receipting and reconciling claims.
- Investigate & resolve NDIS payment/claims and invoice discrepancies or rejections.
- Enter and categorise financial transactions into Xero, including invoices, bills, receipts, payments, and expenses.
- Finalising and scheduling approved invoices for payment within agreed payment terms.
- Assisting with end-to-end bookkeeping transactions, such as accounts receivable, accounts payable, bank reconciliations, general journal entries, etc.
- Assist with the preparation of GST, FBT, and Payroll reports as required.
- Record and maintain documentation in accordance with business and statutory requirements.
Qualifications/Education
Essential
- A degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred but not required. Relevant experience or certification (such as Certified Bookkeeper) can compensate for formal education.
- Proficiency in using accounting software and at least 5 years experience in bookkeeping/accounting roles.

- Current, or ability to obtain a Working With Children Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check.
Desirable
- Knowledge and experience working in the disability and/or social services sector, including a sound understanding of the NDIS Practice Standards and Quality Indicators.
- Experience in or understanding of the NDIS and its funding model will be an advantage.
- Knowledge of NDIS claiming and reconciliation processes.
- Knowledge of Nightingale client management software.
