About this part of our organisation:
Our Zinc Assets in Australia include multiple & geographically dispersed operations, including underground and open pit mines, processing plants and port facilities. Globally we have operations across Asia, North and South American continents and Europe. Brisbane is home to our corporate office which is where this role is based.
About your potential new position:
Glencore Zinc Assets Australia has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior - Financial Accountant to join our Financial Accounting & Reporting team.
You will work across all of Glencore's Zinc Assets Australia sites, including George Fisher Mine, Lady Loretta Mine, McArthur River Mine, our Copper Refinery and Port facilities in Townsville to provide accurate and complete corporate accounting, tax accounting and financial governance as required by Glencore Zinc.
Your key accountabilities and responsibilities include:
- End-of-month reporting and process management.
- Preparation of group reporting.
- Preparation of internal and external audit supporting documents.
- General ledger reconciliations with a risk based review.
- Journal entry preparation and risk based review.
- System accounting and accurately transferring financial data between reporting systems.
- Hedge accounting.
- SAP Product Costing.
- Fixed asset accounting including timely capitalisation of work-in-process.
- Tax accounting.
- Treasury reporting.
- Accounting provisions.
- Financial variance analyses as required.
- Provide financial support to Group Insurance.
- Standardisation of accounting processes and policies.
- Royalty preparation and submissions.
- Technical accounting memos.
- Working with the Financial Planning & Analysis team to deliver process improvements.
- Keep track of overheads, allocate/recharge to different group entities and prepare monthly General & Administration cost variance analysis.
- Progress opportunities for continuous improvement and report on benefits realised.
- Ad-hoc projects as assigned.
- Third Party Purchases entries and reconciliation.
You will need:
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting / Commerce / Business.
- CA / CPA qualification or equivalent international professional accreditation .
- SAP Hanna S4, TM1 and Anaplan experience.
- Good analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Good written and oral communication skills and high attention to detail.
- Experience in the application of appropriate accounting standards, legislative requirements and practices within a commercial environment.
- Knowledge of Glencore standards would be highly advantageous.
- Experience in the application of contemporary reporting, and financial management practices.
- Experience working in the mining industry will be highly regarded.
- 6+ years' experience in Accounting/Finance.
- Ability to meet assigned deadlines.
