About The Role:
The Senior Financial Accountant is responsible for facilitation and delivery of timely and accurate corporate accounting activities. These activities include month end and year-end financial accounting processes, reconciliations and reporting, as well as the implementation and maintenance of a range of contemporary financial policies, systems and practices throughout Bendigo Kangan Institute (BKI). The role provides information for the production of monthly management reporting, statutory and regulatory reporting and ensures that internal and statutory timetables are met.
We are excited about you because you have:
- Relevant Degree in Accounting, Commerce or Business, extensive related work experience in a similar size and complex organization and Membership of a professional accounting body (CPA, CA or equivalent is required. Specialised knowledge in using Technology One system or another similar system.
- Demonstrated experience delivering on the following tasks:
- Play a key role in the support of the maintenance and control BKI's general ledger functions. Undertake reviews of General Ledger account codes on a regular basis and as required.
- Responsibility for ensuring payroll files are interfaced to the general ledger for completion of all relevant payroll reconciliations, payroll tax returns, annual leave and long service leave calculations.
- Prepare journals for and undertake month-end and year end processing including accounting system rollover procedures on a monthly and yearly basis.
- Prepare monthly financial reports and performance analysis as required by Financial Controller.
- Responsibility for ensuring all finance policies and procedures are reviewed within set timeframes and provide adequate level of governance and control over finance policies and procedures
- Support systems administration and maintenance for finance system.
- Provide expertise guidance to Financial Accountants as required.
- Maintain, process and manage all asset related transactions including but not limited to planning valuations, planning stock takes, capitalisation, WIP monitoring, asset controls, asset recording, depreciation estimates, enhancements to asset register and property, plant and equipment policies and procedures.
- Provide other general accounting support and audit preparation support (both internal and external) as directed by the Financial Controller.
