Senior Financial Accountant – Fixed Assets& SaaS

Due to an internal promotion, we are looking for a Senior Financial Accountant to join our Corporate Finance Team. This is a highly visible and vital role managing the accounting for Fixed Assets (tangible and intangible) held by the Group, as well as the accounting for leases under AASB 16 Leases and applying IFRIC SaaS guidelines. This role will also support the year-end statutory reporting, budgeting, and forecasting functions, and includes involvement in a range of projects that affect the finance function.
The position encompasses a mix of financial, statutory and management accounting along with leading one direct report to achieve their goals professionally.
More about the opportunity:
- Leading the preparations of all monthly management reporting for all tangible and intangible assets for the Michael Hill group - including leasing and SaaS statutory reporting overlays
- Review and post journals raised by the team, including asset additions, disposals and depreciation; capitalisation of internal wages, tracking of IT and property assets in WIP; statutory lease accounting; and SaaS write-offs
- Lead, inspire and coach direct report
- Reviewing balance sheets and reconciliations, assisting in closing month end as necessary
- Partnering closely with the wider business and key stakeholders on topics of SaaS and other accounting standards
- Aiding in the preparation of half year and year end statutory adjustments and application notes for Annual and half year reports.
More about you:
- Degree in Accounting / Finance with CA/CPA professional qualification
- High level Excel skills
- Strong leadership capability with the desire to coach and lead team members and direct reports
- Able to drive issue resolution in a collaborative environment
- Highly developed relationship building skills to leverage business decisions and results
- Previous experience or exposure to a large ERP system, such as Dynamics D365
- A bias for action and the ability to meet multiple deadlines
