Role:
Reporting to the Financial Reporting Manager, the Senior Financial Accountant will play a pivotal role in establishing and managing accounting policies, oversee effective reporting systems, procedures, and internal controls to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting of the Group, as well as, supporting the FP&A function with budgets & forecasts.
Responsibilities:
Statutory/Technical Accounting:
- Prepare annual and half-yearly financial reports, including ASIC and ASX reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with the Reporting Manager to ensure efficient, effective, and timely reporting processes.
- Analyse the impact of new accounting standards and present technical accounting papers.
- Verify external reports, including ASX results announcements and investor presentations.
- Contribute to an efficient month-end process by preparing/reviewing workbooks and processing journal entries.
- Review monthly balance sheet reconciliations and prepare management reports with budget variance analysis.
- Support month-end and accounting process automation initiatives.
- Prepare BAS, income tax, FBT returns, and other documents required by ATO.
- Liaise with external tax consultants and ensure compliance with tax governance documents.
- Identify and implement internal controls improvements, including automated SAP controls.
- Document financial processes and contribute to process enhancements in Confluence.
- Collaborate on projects and ad-hoc tasks as required.
- Assist in budget and forecast preparation alongside the FP&A Manager.
- Background in BIG4 or 2nd tier accounting firm with strong knowledge of A-IFRS and ASX reporting.
- Current commercial experience is highly advantageous.
- CA/CPA qualified with tertiary degree qualifications in Accounting/Commerce or related field.
- Excellent organisational and project management skills with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
- Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with SAP B1 or another ERP system; SQL knowledge is beneficial.
