The Role
The Victorian Government is committed to increasing access to Victoria's local seafood, growing healthy and sustainable fisheries and aquaculture sectors and contributing to Victoria's social and economic prosperity. The Victorian Fisheries Authority manages this work under the Fisheries Act (Victoria) 1995, which provides for the management, development and promotion of an ecologically sustainable and viable aquaculture industry.
This position provides authoritative advice to the Director Fisheries Management and CEO regarding all aspects affecting Victorian recreational fisheries, with a focus on implementing government initiatives and improving recreational fishing outcomes.
The Team
The VFA is a statutory authority established to facilitate the effective management of Victoria's fisheries resources in a coordinated and strategic way that ensures their ongoing sustainability. The VFA functions to ensure that the Government, the recreational and commercial fishing sectors, and the Victorian community can share in and obtain the benefits from sustainable fisheries management.
The VFA has around 190 employees located in the Melbourne CBD, metropolitan Melbourne and across regional Victoria.
About you
As a Senior Fishery Manager, Recreational Fishery Partnerships, you will be established in your career, experienced in collaborating widely, and be proactive in undertaking projects with a strong industry engagement focus. A self-starting, dynamic, people person would be successful in this role. Fisheries management experience is required.
