About the role

As Senior Governance Officer in this newly created role, you’ll have the opportunity to play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, facilitating transparent decision-making processes and maintaining the highest standard of governance across our organisation.
In this role, you will undertake duties such as:
- Facilitating the compilation and distribution of agendas, minutes, and all other documents for Council meetings, Committees, and forums
- Coordinating and administering the legislative process for requests for information under the Freedom of Information Act 1992
- Attending council and committee meetings to facilitate minute-taking and meeting processes.
- Ensuring completion of regulatory and statutory returns, including compliance audits and related party disclosures
- Maintaining the City’s Outstanding Resolutions reporting and ensuring timely completion of Council resolutions
- Assisting in the preparation and conduct of Council elections and more
What we’re looking for:
- Thorough understanding of governance principles and legislative requirements
- Experience within a similar level governance role within local government
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet strict deadlines
- Discretion and confidentiality when handling sensitive information
- Experience with Infocouncil and the Freedom of Information Act will be highly regarded
