This is your opportunity to join carsales in this newly created role as Senior Group Financial Accountant. Reporting to the Senior Group Finance Manager, you will be a key contributor within the financial control team with responsibilities across the month-end close and reporting, consolidation and statutory accounts process.
Our Finance team has a full understanding of how each of our business units work, as they collaborate and share ideas with all our teams to ensure we are always delivering the best possible user experience to our customers.

What you will do
- Assist with leading the month-end close and consolidation process, including preparation of relevant journals as required.
- Prepare month-end reporting and variance analysis for critical subsidiaries of carsales.com Limited.
- Partnering with our local and international subsidiaries, as well as other teams within carsales.
- Assist with review of monthly tasks, including general ledger reconciliations.
- Involvement in critical finance projects (e.g. system migrations, business combinations, capital transactions, review of internally developed software assets etc).
- Take a lead role in the review and delivery of half-year and full-year financial reports.
- Assist with managing the external audit process.
- Provide technical accounting advice, financial information, and reporting to management.
- Coaching of financial and assistant accountants.
- Assist in making a difference by identifying and delivering continuous process improvements and efficiencies within the finance function, as our business continues to grow.
Qualifications
What we are looking for?
- Demonstrated inclusive and interpersonal attributes that connect you to our behaviours (we change the game, we own it, we step in, we are curious, we don't take ourselves too seriously).
- Demonstrated expertise in accounting with sound technical accounting skills with a professional accounting qualification such as CA or CPA.
- Big 4 Chartered Accounting firm or ASX listed/large multinational company experience is advantageous.
- Understanding of accounting standards and accounting for key judgmental areas including provisions, accruals, impairment models and business combinations is advantageous.
- Strong Excel proficiency. Previous experience with NetSuite ERP or similar accounting programs.
