About the Role
Reporting to the Group Finance Manager, the Senior Financial Accountant will be responsible for coordination and preparation of statutory and external reporting requirements. You will be responsible for a timely and accurate month-end closure process, including the preparation of and review of the Group balance sheet, preparation and lodgment of regulatory statutory reporting and other ad hoc reporting.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Day-to-day management of the Accounts Payable function
- Monthly review of the Fixed Asset Register for both Corporate and Tax books
- Preparation and review of a range of manual journals to record financial transactions
- Preparation and review of balance sheet reconciliations, with timely and accurate follow-up of variances
- Manage month-end ERP subledger and general ledger closures (Oracle) to ensure timely monthly and quarterly reporting to The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA)
- Maintenance of the Group Chart of Accounts
- Review and oversight of statistical reporting obligations e.g. ABS reports, payment times reporting
- Liaise with external auditors and preparation of financial information, workpapers and Audit Committee papers for the annual financial audit of the Group
- Annual FBT return reconciliation
- Annual Tax return preparation and lodgment
- Review monthly and quarterly BAS/IAS for a range of companies within the Group
- Document Finance Policies and Procedures manuals
- Preparing technical accounting position papers for complex accounting treatments
- Responding to Finance Business Partners queries in the preparation of monthly management reports for the Group
- Working with the finance and operational teams, as applicable, to prioritise process improvements and strive for best practice.
We are looking for candidates who have:
- CA/CPA (or equivalent) with a minimum of 5 years, ideally with experience gained in a Big 4 firm, a mid-tier firm or a medium/large corporate organisation;
- Accounting, record keeping, and financial software skills (previous experience using ORACLE is preferred);
- Advanced Microsoft excel skills and proficiency in all MS software;
- Experience in using general ledger accounting systems (preferable but not required);
- Experience in preparing annual statutory reports for ASIC and liaising with external auditors (preferable but not required);
- Ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and various BU within the company;
- High level of attention to detail, with cross-referencing for accuracy;
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;
- Strong work ethic and pro-active attitude;
- Excellent time management skills and ability to be flexible based on business needs;
