The role
Reporting to the Director, System Leadership and Advisory Services, the role assists in the provision of high-level advice, analysis and reports to executives and health, safety, and wellbeing practitioners across Queensland Health Hospitals and Health Services in relation to a range of workplace Health and Safety, workplace rehabilitation, with a particular focus on health, safety and wellbeing governance, consultation, supporting Health and Safety Representatives and Health and Safety committees.
The successful person
You will have demonstrated:
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of contemporary health, safety and wellbeing strategies and initiatives, including national and state policies, legislation, standards and trends, and the proven ability to apply that knowledge to develop and implement effective systems, policies and programs within a large public sector organisation.
- A record of achievement in contributing to the development, implementation, evaluation and continually improving strategic organisation-wide health, safety and wellbeing management systems and strategies within complex environments.
- Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills with the proven ability to analyse performance data and contribute to strategic advice and reports to drive systems improvement.
- Developed communication and interpersonal skills with the proven ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships and effectively liaise and collaborate with a range of stakeholders to facilitate their cooperation and support to achieve desired outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritise and organise work to achieve goals and meet deadlines, including dealing with competing demands and managing multiple projects and tasks in a complex environment.

Human Resources Branch partners with stakeholders across Queensland Health to provide human resource strategies and support to realise the potential of our people in the delivery of quality healthcare to Queenslanders. The branch delivers a range of human resource services to attract and retain staff, build workforce culture and capability, develop and maintain employment arrangements, monitor and manage workforce performance, support safe and healthy work and provide assurance that the department's statutory obligations are met.
The Health and Safety Unit partners with stakeholders across Queensland Health to provide strategic and statewide leadership and guidance on all matters pertaining to work health, safety and wellbeing (WHSW), including: designing policy architecture to enable and inform the delivery of operational Health and Safety services, workplace rehabilitation and wellbeing initiatives; provide expert advice to the organisation and operational Health and Safety teams on the identification and management of physical and psychosocial hazards and risks for the workplace; providing specialist advice and services to Hospital and Health Services (HHSs); monitoring, evaluation and compliance; maintaining close relationships with key partners including HR, Risk and Governance, Legal, and Patient Safety teams.
