About the Role
The is currently recruiting for a Senior Health and Safety Officer to join the team on a continuing basis. The purpose of the Senior Health & Safety Advisor is to ensure compliance with statutory workplace Health and Safety requirements, University policies and guidelines. This will be achieved by promoting, managing and maintaining a culture of workplace Health and Safety through the provision of advice and coordination and monitoring of Health and Safety (H&S) activities.
The Senior Health & Safety Advisor will work with the Health & Safety Manager to build a sense of shared purpose and direction across the faculty by creating alignment between the faculty's H&S strategy and its' H&S culture and operations. The position will engage in high-level critical thinking and innovative problem solving to manage short, medium and long-term Health and Safety risks and opportunities. As a senior member of the team the incumbent will manage, support, facilitate and embed cultural change across the faculty to ensure excellence in the planning of safe and professional practices across operations.
The Senior Health & Safety Advisor will work collaboratively to inform, support and influence line managers to establish practical Health and Safety risk management solutions. This position will be primarily based at the UTS Tech Lab, Botany Precinct.

- Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
- Demonstrated experience in managing work related risk, developing safety guidelines, conducting audits and inspections.
- Ability to translate complex legislative requirements into practical compliance solutions using a collaborative style that sustains these solutions over time.
- Well-developed interpersonal, collaboration, consultation and communication skills
Remuneration & Benefits
Base Salary Range: $132,164 to $138,457 pa (HEW 9)
This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.
