The Role
The Senior Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ) Advisor will be responsible for providing support in the development and refinement of HSEQ systems, policies, safety management plans and associated procedures while ensuring appropriate execution in the field. This role will be a mixture of in the office and on site.
Responsibilities:
- To construct a positive vision of the HSEQ business function as responsive, knowledgeable and able to add value by identifying relevant policies, practices, options and solutions.
- Plan and participate in the implementation of HSEQ inspections, audits (internal and external) and risk assessments both in the office and on site.
- Provide advice, coach and mentor managers, supervisors, employees and subcontractors to achieve workplace HSEQ objectives and targets.
- Support in the preparation for various third-party certification programs and company tenders as required.
- Assist with preparation of company reports using trend analysis techniques and flagging improvement opportunities.
- Undertake risk assessments of construction activities and manage these via regular internal forums and site inspections as required.
- Plan, present & participate in toolbox sessions, safety initiatives and safety campaigns.
- Where required, lead incident investigation, associated reporting and outcomes.
- Plan, present & participate in customer governance sessions relating to HSEQ as required.
Our candidate ideal will ideally meet most or all of the below requirements:
- Certificate IV, Diploma and/or tertiary qualifications in WHS or equivalent
- Cert IV in training and assessment
- Qualification in internal audit; ICAMS Senior Safety Investigator certification
- Experience developing and implementing accredited Safety Management Systems
- Experience working in construction, renewable, rail and mining industries.
- A strong working and practical knowledge of Australian Safety codes of practice and similar documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently to organise and prioritise demands, handle multiple complex tasks and simultaneously, set and meet deadlines and follow-through within a fast-paced environment with multiple and competing demands.
- Planning, programming and financial management for individual project/s
- Ensuring key milestones and deliverables are met
- Management of compliance, quality control and quality assurance standards and specifications
- Leading a diverse and hardworking team including but not limited to engineers/site supervisors etc
- This role is site based (FIFO/DIDO) with a roster dependent on the project/s
