Design and Build have partnered with a leading Australian HVAC contractor who are looking for a Senior Estimator to join their team.
As a Senior Estimator, you will be responsible for heading up the estimating team, providing accurate and timely estimates on a variety of commercial HVAC projects. You will play a key role in assessing project requirements, conducting site visits, and preparing detailed estimates. Utilizing your extensive knowledge of the industry, you will ensure that all estimates submitted are comprehensive, competitive, and adhere to best practices.
Responsibilities:
- Analyzing project requirements and specifications to develop accurate cost estimates.
- Conducting on-site inspections and assessments to assess project. scope and identify potential risks or challenges.
- Collaborating with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand project objectives and constraints.
- Provide detailed cost breakdowns, including labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractor expenses.
- Researching and sourcing pricing information for materials and services from vendors and subcontractors.
- Preparing and submitting proposals and bids to clients, ensuring compliance with project requirements and deadlines.
- Update and maintain cost databases.
- Monitoring project progress and budget throughout the construction phase.
- Participating in project closeout activities, including assessing project costs, evaluating subcontractor performance, and providing feedback for future estimates.
- Bachelors' degree in Mechanical Engineering. If trade qualified you must have sound engineering capabilities.
- Ideally 10+ years HVAC industry experience on commercial projects.
- Must have Australian experience with expert knowledge of standards and industry contacts.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction plans, and specifications.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in estimating quantities and costs.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
