Role Overview:

As the Senior IT Test Analyst within this Federal Government Department, your role encompasses both hands-on testing activities and leadership responsibilities. You will lead efforts to test the function and interfaces of the Department's core business processing systems, overseeing tasks such as preparing, estimating, managing, and reviewing testing documentation to ensure compliance with best practices and effective risk management.

Additionally, you will play a crucial role in providing technical training on testing processes, fostering collaboration with fellow Test Analysts, and operating within an agile/iterative framework to achieve testing objectives. You will also identify opportunities for automation within software processes, utilizing scripts to evaluate functionality across various phases, including analysis, preparation, execution, defect management, and technical troubleshooting.

Job Responsibilities:

• Implement the test strategy and test plan across all projects/change 
• Prepare, maintain, and execute test requirements and scripts, liaising with design, build, and business teams.
• Provide estimates of testing effort and progress for project management and planning activities.
• Assign tasks to the test team and ensure timely delivery of test outcomes with quality results
• Assist in the production release and review of all test deliverables
• Document and agree on test environment requirements.
• Execute test scripts as needed and produce metrics to measure testing quality and progress.
• Apply project management principles in developing and delivering testing objectives.
• Escalate risks, issues, and assumptions to the Test Manager.
• Work closely with business to clarify test requirements during test planning, design and execution
• Collaborate with business to clarify test requirements and liaise with various stakeholders.
• Support Test Manager in leading, developing Test Estimates, Test Schedule(s), Impact Analysis and resource co-ordination
• Prepare test signoff artifacts before production implementation.
• Utilise various testing methodologies including Waterfall and Agile
• Manage defects according to the Defect Management strategy.
• Contribute to and review testing artifacts such as strategies, plans, and risk assessments.
• Develop, document, and monitor testing processes and procedures, promoting best practices.
• Collaborate on business improvement strategies and change initiatives.
• Provide leadership, direction, and mentoring to staff involved in test design and execution.
• Transfer skills and knowledge to departmental staff and ensure proper documentation storage according to policy.

To be successful, you will have:

• ISTQB Foundation Certificate or equivalent certificate, or relevant practical experience
• Demonstrated 5+ years as Senior Test Analyst
• Experience in Desktop/Application (including D365), interagency, system integration and mobile device testing. 
• Proficiency in analysing documented specifications, user stories and requirements to support the creation of test cases
• Experience in writing, reviewing, and executing test cases.
• Demonstrated ability to work under limited direction with competing priorities and be accountable for completion of work
• Demonstrated ability to adapt and work in a constantly changing environment.
• Experience in reporting and tracking the resolution of defects/issues as they are found in testing.
• The ability to be proactive, flexible, and agile, whilst managing changing goals and scope in a multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and skilled at prioritisation and multi-tasking.
• Ideally exposure to or previous experience in .Net, Seibel, Sales force applications
• Accessibility testing experience is desirable.
