About the role

We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Legal Assistant to join our Asbestos & Dust Diseases Team in our Brisbane CBD office. This role would suit an EA or Legal Assistant who is looking to build their skills with higher duties in a well-known, national firm. You will bring your strong organisational skills and customer service commitment to the role, you will possess a high degree of initiative, a proven ability to handle pressure and conflicting priorities, strong organisational and time management skills, and outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

Our Asbestos, Silica and Occupational Disease Team have accumulated more than 20 years of experience in Dust Diseases litigation and pride themselves on ensuring that their clients not only receive the best compensation result but provide exceptional services during our client's compensation journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Documentation management tasks, including proof reading, producing accurate file notes, filing and monitoring for further action
  • Produce client correspondence and prepare court documents as requested
  • Build strong relationships with clients, including assisting with enquiries and proactively seeking information where appropriate
  • Work collaboratively with team members, sharing knowledge, supporting and contributing constructively
  • Answer all incoming client enquiries and assist or transfer calls where appropriate
  • Provide accurate updates and information to clients within a timely manner and manage expectations
  • Manage the administration of all client files from open to close

You will also have the skills to:
  • Provide high level, confidential administrative assistance to a Principal Lawyer of a national law firm
  • Build and manage relationships with key stakeholders within the firm as well as external stakeholders
  • Provide excellent client service at all times

Key Selection Criteria:
  • Previous experience as an Executive Assistant and/or Legal Assistant essential
  • The ability to think strategically in order to forward plan and monitor future priorities
  • Proven success in developing strategies and plans to manage email accounts and calendars
  • A high competency in Microsoft Office and in particular a willingness to develop advanced skills in MS Excel and MS teams
  • Well-developed communication skills (written, oral and interpersonal) and the ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multi-task and work independently to plan, coordinate and organise projects
  • Outstanding customer service attributes that include a professional image, customer service focus, active listening skills and sound negotiation skills
  • The ability to handle and uphold confidential matters with maturity and common sense
  • A record of or enthusiasm for working independently to deliver on shared goals
