About the role

Senior Local Area Coordinator – Melton

We’re seeking an enthusiastic Senior Local Area Coordinatorto join our dedicated NDIS Services Team. This role involves managing and delivering Partner in the Community Local Area Coordination services within the Brotherhood of St Laurence (BSL) Disability Services Division. 

  • Location: Brimbank Melton Area – based at our BSL NDIS Melton Office (Melton VIC, 3337).
  • Salary: A competitive remuneration package ranging from $105,621.82 – $110,284.40 per annum + 11% superannuation and $13,000 vehicle allowance.
  • Type of Employment: Permanent, full-time (working 38-40 hours per week).

ABOUT YOUR NEW ROLE

As a Senior Local Area Coordinator, your role is a pivotal function in the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). You are responsible for the delivery and implementation of Partner in the Community Local Area Coordination Services in a defined geographical area.

As a Senior Local Area Coordinator, you will assist people with disability to advocate, plan, organise and access the support and services needed to live an ordinary life. This includes assessing each person’s eligibility for the NDIS and (where eligible) helping to establish a NDIS plan with reasonable and necessary supports. Your role will engage with the local community to assist people with disability to access mainstream services regardless of NDIS eligibility.

Additionally, you will be responsible for overseeing a team of Local Area Coordinators (LACs) – Providing expert advice to LACs via regular individual supervision and coaching, as well as opportunities for peer support, and reflective practice. You will support staff to embrace the LAC approach and principles – Encouraging ways of working with people beyond operational obligations as a Partner in the Community.

ABOUT YOU

We are seeking applicants who have: 

  • Relevant qualifications in fields such as Disability, Allied Health, Human Services, Social Sciences and/or;
  • Lived experience with disability or awareness of the impact of existing or acquired disability upon individuals, families, carers and the community
  • Demonstrated ability to manage, lead and develop a team in a changing environment
  • Highly developed communication, listening and relationship building skills
  • Experience in working alongside community towards common goals
  • Confidence using a variety of computer programs and equipment and ability to enter information accurately
