About the role
The Risk Champion assists with the provision of risk expertise within the Compliance business unit. The role is to ensure the application of the Region Australia & New Zealand Risk Management Framework (RMF). It facilitates the incorporation of all aspects of the RMF (including Operational Risk and Compliance) into day-to-day activities of the Compliance function.
The role also provides a key organisational function in assisting to drive and coordinate Compliance Risk management activities across the division risk champion network, including maintaining the framework for the maintenance and management of the bank's obligations register and assisting Line 1 to understand and implement changes to the compliance management framework.
Some of the Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities include:
- Drive and facilitate the risk and control assessment processes across the Australia and New Zealand Compliance teams, in line with Rabobank global requirements and the Risk Management Framework.
- Develop and maintain the framework for management of the bank's obligations register, including providing guidance to Line 1 on how to manage and maintain their obligations.
- Facilitate the periodic review and attestation by each division of their respective obligations register component.
- Track and monitor Compliance-owned obligations, controls, incidents, and findings to drive appropriate management and remediation, where required.
- Conduct risk assessments, deep dives, root cause analysis, lessons learned for Compliance-owned risks, controls, findings, and incidents.
- Prepare and present reporting to the Compliance Leadership Team on the risk and control environment of the Compliance function.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Bachelor's Degree or international equivalent (preference for financial, business, economics, or other related undergraduate degree).
- Experience in financial services industry with focus on controls, auditing, compliance, or process engineering is considered essential.
- Knowledge of project management disciplines highly regarded.
- An understanding of how compliance obligations operate.
- An understanding of Risk Management within the financial services industry and related regulatory standards (Basel II and APRA Prudential Standards).
- Experience in managing risk, evaluating risk, and reviewing risk.
- Experience managing stakeholders and have experience dealing with senior management and business and commercial teams.
