The Department of Government Services (DGS) was established on 1 January 2023 to improve everyone's experience of doing business and interacting with the Victorian government. We bring important day-to-day services together in one department to make things easy and seamless for Victorians and businesses. We are doing this by connecting and digitising our systems and platforms across state and local government as well as streamlining our corporate and procurement services.
About the role
An exciting opportunity exists for three Senior Managers to join the Regulation Policy Branch, leading the department's Consumer Affairs policy function and supporting the Minister for Consumer Affairs in administering their legislative portfolio, which includes around 30 separate pieces of legislation.
The Senior Manager provides strategic advice to the Minister and senior executives on proposed legislation; participates in national and cross-government projects and establishes and manages the Minister's legislative program. Working collaboratively, the Senior Manager will lead a multi-disciplinary team, inspiring and motivating them in achieving the department's outcomes and objectives. An ability to influence stakeholders and work collaboratively will see you succeed in this role.
About you
To be considered for the role, you must demonstrate:
- Highly developed knowledge and experience of public policy, law and procedure, especially regarding consumer protection and business regulation issues
- Demonstrated experience leading successful delivery of complex projects in a government, policy, or legislative environment
- Interpersonal Skills: Builds relationships at senior levels; acts a convenor between teams and departments to build collaboration.
- Stakeholder Management: Identifies and manages a range of complex and often competing needs; facilitates innovative solutions to resolve stakeholder issues.
- Project Delivery: Is regarded as a thought leader in project management; considers historical, political and broader context to inform project direction and mitigate risk; engage key stakeholders at senior levels; balances the needs of clients, team, and the organisation.
