The Role
We have a newly created opportunity to join our Risk, Governance and Legal function as a Senior Manager, Risk Assurance.

Reporting to the General Manager, Risk, you will be responsible for supporting the business with executing our enterprise-wide annual assurance plan, which includes assurance activities across the risk and compliance frameworks, policies, key risks, controls and processes. You will provide Line 2 Risk Management assurance insights, improvement opportunities and relevant reporting to the risk & obligation owners across MLC Life Insurance, so that the company can effectively manage operational risks and compliance obligations within appetite.

This role will see your responsible for:

• Executing the annual Line 2 Assurance Plan.
• Performing systemic reviews and deep dives of the implementation of the risk and compliance management frameworks, obligations, operational risks, controls, and processes across the enterprise to ensure risk is managed within appetite.
• Reporting on all assurance activities to our Stakeholders, Executive Team and Board.
• Enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of risk and compliance management environment.
• Driving a strong risk culture across the company by role modelling the risk and compliance management frameworks and practices, and monitoring risk in a timely manner.
• Providing leadership support for one direct report. 

About you

You will be a seasoned Risk, Compliance or Audit professional with experience in the Financial Services industry with a pragmatic approach to risk management.

Your tertiary qualification in Legal, Risk Management, Finance or Commerce is coupled with your broad knowledge of the financial services industry, how our business operates and the legislative/regulatory framework.

As a natural communicator, you have strong verbal and written communication skills with proven experience in business writing including Assurance outcome reports and Executive team briefing papers.

Lastly, your balanced set of skills includes critical and analytical thinking, positive interpersonal and influencing skills and the ability to work collaboratively across function areas to achieve business outcomes.
