YOUR NEW ROLE
The Senior Manager, Strategic Events is responsible for the strategy, planning, coordination, execution and overall success of all Sydney Opera House stakeholder events, playing a key role in broader strategic engagement and activities organisation-wide.
The position leads the Strategic Events team and works closely with all areas of the business to provide meaningful stakeholder engagement opportunities that help achieve SOH’s strategic goals.
A key focus of the role is the development, management and delivery of strategic and milestone events and activities aligned with SOH’s ambition to be Everyone’s House. This includes overseeing a busy year-round program of opening nights, program launches and other stakeholder events to support SOH’s programming, precinct, private funding, building, heritage, social and environmental impact activities, among others.
The role reports to the Director, Strategic Engagement & Impact, and supports both the portfolio and wider organisation by providing brilliantly-executed events and engagement opportunities to connect with and inspire SOH’s broad family of stakeholders.

ARE YOU THE ONE?
We are looking for:
- Relevant tertiary qualification with extensive event management experience, including within the arts and cultural sector.
- Demonstrated track record in the conception and delivery of creative, high quality events within designated budgets, tailored for relevant stakeholder groups, meeting expectations, and managing partners, clients and VIPs.
- Exceptional oral, written and interpersonal skills, including the ability to draft clear and concise communications and effectively manage/negotiate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven team management and organisational skills, including the ability to juggle multiple projects and events at different phases of completion at one time.
- Excellent project management capabilities and attention to detail, including planning, scheduling, prioritising (with conflicting deadlines and limited resources) event management and reporting.
- Experience working on complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
- Sound working knowledge of computer software, including Microsoft 365 platforms and Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Knowledge of Tessitura is desirable.
- Familiarity with and knowledge of the performing arts, and the complex environment in which cultural organisations operate in Australia.
