Overview
Our team is growing! Excellent opportunity for a Senior Market Analyst to join our Global Energy Management & Sales (GEMS) ANZ business to provide subject matter expertise within the market analysis stream of the Analytics team. The analysis and insights you will generate will lead to improved decision making across the rest of GEMS ANZ and the wider ANZ business.
Responsibilities:
  • Own the relationship and communication with external consultants and communicate outputs of long-term price modelling to internal stakeholders
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external consultants on long-term price models, ensuring alignment with ENGIE's views
  • Manage, document, and lead the development of internal assumptions used in a variety of scenarios in ENGIE's long-term modelling
  • Collaborate with global business units in the development of corporate strategies for ENGIE and represent the Australian perspective in global discussions and decision-making processes as needed
  • Digest key reports from internal and external sources (e.g. consultant reports, ESOO, Gov announcements) and disseminate key information within the team and to other departments as needed
  • Keep in touch with relevant energy market news and share insights with team and stakeholders while contributing to formulating ENGIE's view on trends in long-term commodity prices
About You:
To be successful in this role, you will bring forward your understanding of long-term price modelling and energy market principles including NEM or gas markets dispatch processes, generator behaviour, network constraints, and power system operations.
You will have strong data analytics proficiency including SQL, Python, R, VBA, and PowerBI, as well as experience in liaising with internal and external stakeholders, including project management. Previous experience working with energy market simulation software such as PLEXOS is advantageous.

The Global Energy Management & Sales (GEMS) business unit is the fully integrated trading arm of the ENGIE Group. GEMS teams manage a large and highly diversified energy portfolio, including electricity, natural gas, biomass, LNG and other fuels, CO2 and environmental products, and provide a range of trading risk management solutions to all types of market participants in Europe, Asia Pacific and in the Americas. GEMS manages the B2B supply business within ENGIE, including supply contracts and Power Purchase Agreements.
Within the GEMS Business Unit, the Australia and New Zealand Business Platform (BP ANZ) are managing and developing the group's trading activities for these regions around 4 main pillars: risk management and market access, asset management, green solutions and energy supply businesses.
The missions of the BP ANZ are:
  • Support the development and the operations of the other GBUs in all aspects related to risk representation and risk management
  • Develop a commercial franchise which contributes to the overall risk management of the portfolio and generates value
