About the Role
The ABC's Content Division is looking for a media professional to provide advice, support and guidance on Indigenous issues, protocols and opportunities. The role will include:
Cultural Guidance
Sharing and transferring Indigenous cultural knowledge to colleagues and clients.
Providing content makers with advice and guidance on the steps to take to ensure culturally sensitive stories are managed appropriately.
Identifying when community consultation about culturally sensitive content is needed and lead that consultation.
Internal Stakeholder Management
Working closely with the News Division Senior Cultural Adviser and with the ABC's Head of Indigenous.
Working closely with Content division diversity leads and Legal in the delivery of the ABC Indigenous Cultural Intellectual Property (ICIP) framework.
Development, Coaching and Mentoring
Providing training development to content teams to build awareness and confidence in applying the ICIP framework.
About You
You have experience leading cultural initiatives policy or plans and bring high-level leadership and influencing skills. Your skills, experience and personal qualities will include:
An ability to authentically establish rapport, credibility, and collaborative relationships with external and internal stakeholders.
An ability to develop respect and trust with content makers, internal stakeholders and Indigenous communities.
Experience building an inclusive and supportive culture where diversity is valued.
Proven ability to plan and effectively manage projects and stakeholders.
Previous experience in the screen industry or the media is preferred.
