About the Role
The ABC's Content Division is looking for a media professional to provide advice, support and guidance on Indigenous issues, protocols and opportunities. The role will include:
Cultural Guidance
- Sharing and transferring Indigenous cultural knowledge to colleagues and clients.
- Providing content makers with advice and guidance on the steps to take to ensure culturally sensitive stories are managed appropriately.
- Identifying when community consultation about culturally sensitive content is needed and lead that consultation.
Internal Stakeholder Management
- Working closely with the News Division Senior Cultural Adviser and with the ABC's Head of Indigenous.
- Working closely with Content division diversity leads and Legal in the delivery of the ABC Indigenous Cultural Intellectual Property (ICIP) framework.
Development, Coaching and Mentoring
- Providing training development to content teams to build awareness and confidence in applying the ICIP framework.
About You
You have experience leading cultural initiatives policy or plans and bring high-level leadership and influencing skills. Your skills, experience and personal qualities will include:
- An ability to authentically establish rapport, credibility, and collaborative relationships with external and internal stakeholders.
- An ability to develop respect and trust with content makers, internal stakeholders and Indigenous communities.
- Experience building an inclusive and supportive culture where diversity is valued.
- Proven ability to plan and effectively manage projects and stakeholders.
- Previous experience in the screen industry or the media is preferred.
