Senior Mine Geologist

True North Copper Limited (ASX:TNC) is a copper and critical minerals mining company. The company’s two major projects are the Cloncurry Copper Project (Cloncurry) and the Mt Oxide Project (140km north of Mt Isa). Our corporate headquarters are in Cairns.

This is a full-time position and is based in Cloncurry at the Great Australian Mine (GAM). 

The Role:

The role will comprise both mine and office work with ongoing collaboration with the geology department. As part of a small geologist team, you will support and mentor the geologists and technicians to develop their skills and knowledge. Your primary responsibility will be to oversee, plan, co-ordinate and provide geological input to day-to-day mining activities.  

About you:

As the Senior Mine Geologist, you will have approx 5 years’ experience, preferably in the Metalliferous quarry and mining sector.  You will be drive and manage production geology, grade control activities, conversion of resources, and define extensions to the life of mine in a safe, integrated, and team-orientated approach. You will be expected to control the ore type and quality extracted from the open pit’s and delivered to the ROM. As part of a small technical team, you will be exposed to many aspects of the operation and expected to work closely with many departments including surveying, engineering, Environment & Health & Safety.

Key responsibilities 

• To assist in running the sites grade control program ensuring accurate delineation of ore and waste in all mining areas.
• Manage data collection and storage to ensure geological understanding of the deposit is maximised.
• Liaise with other technical services teams (engineering, surveying, metallurgy) as well as the pit supervisor, drill and blast contractors to ensure effective and efficient mining.
• Ensure all activities comply with Work Health and Safety (WHS), environmental policies and general duty of care.
• Assist in geotechnical monitoring of the pit.
• Contribution to Resource development.
• Geological modeling of bench available for forecasting after mining
• Geostatistical analysis and resource estimation.
• Meet all deadlines in reporting requirements- ASX reporting, quarterly monthly. 
• Attend pre-start and daily mining meeting at Mining Services.
• Timely management of drilling programs including target generation, drill program design, implementation, and data management Maintain a pleasant and productive working environment with the ability to respond to real employee concerns. 
• Ensure there is total management commitment to the required company outcomes and that company values, objectives, policies, and procedures are implemented.
• Assist with mentoring and professional development of personnel under supervision.
• Strong problem solving, mentoring skills and effective team leadership skills.
• Supervise the geology department personnel in their day-to-day activities

To be successful you will need to have:

• Degree qualification in Science (Geology) or other relevant discipline
• Minimum 5 years’ experience
• Hold a current Drivers “C” class license valid in the state of Queensland.
• The right to work in Australia. 
• Pre-employment medical and D&A screening; and
