We are currently recruiting for a Senior Mining Systems Application Specialist who will report directly into the Technology Manager. We are offering this role on a 7:7 roster where you can drive in and out of site!
The Senior Mining Systems Application Specialist provides dedicated support for fleet management applications, Power BI development, OT software application suite and database systems used at the mine site. The role is generally guided by the Technology Manager. The position is accountable for the support of mine site personnel with the functionality and capability of OT software applications related to mining and/or processing technology.
The role:

• Assists with the functional operation of the MineStar application and system issue investigation and engaging vendor support through the CAT TSC system; perform immediate incident response, triage and escalation to the wider technology support teams that impact the MineStar application

• Performs impact assessments on supporting infrastructure or related systems during incidents, upgrades and maintenance activities
• Coordinates and provides support for the site's production, applications and database systems.
• Provide disciplined approach to change management ensuring testing procedures have been carried out prior to production rollout of change, also ensuring vendors commit to the same change management processes
• Establish and maintain technology vendor and partner relationships
• Investigate, review and recommend change to applications where appropriate and collaborate with stake holders to rollout approved enhancements
• Collaborate with colleagues in Operations Technology to ensure changes and recommendations made are in alignment with solution road maps
• Responsible for the maintenance of system monitoring tools and responding to issues identified
• Maintain the integrity of data interfaces (API's) and logic to optimize dataflow
• Migrating applications or databases across different platform.
• Works closely with the Data & Analytics team to provide reporting solutions for the site operations teams
• Provides real-time support and escalation point for production application systems May oversee technical contract personnel

About you:

• Tertiary Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field and 5 years relevant experience, or;
• 5 years' experience in an operational business unit with 3 years of data analysis and implementation experience
• Experience working on production-critical systems is highly preferred
• Experience in some or all of the below applications is desirable:
• MS SQL Server Management and SQL Scripting
• CAT Command
• CAT Fleet Manager
• CAT Minestar
• Experience with programming languages, and Windows and Unix operating systems is desirable
• Experience with .Net and Business Objects is an advantage
• Experience with dashboard systems and data analysis tools is an advantage (e.g. Power BI)
• Demonstrated experience in technical support role
• Strong mix of business, functional, and technical skills
• Good understanding of Mining or other Resources type Operations
• Broad knowledge of all technology considerations (performance, scalability, maintainability, deployment, operations, technology infrastructure)
• Ability to effectively deliver projects
• Ability to work productively in a mixed onshore/offshore team
• Has an overall understanding of the objectives and functions of the company, business units and departments serviced by Technology
