About the position
The purpose of the Senior Intake Nurse role is to provide specialist support and care to Young people that are admitted to the Residential Withdrawal Units and Rehab Units. The position will facilitate withdrawal / rehab services for young people seeking assistance in their physical detoxification and Rehabilitation from licit and illicit substances use. This position works closely with YSAS General Practitioners, community General Practitioners and residential staff team. This position will provide management coverage to the Residential units and Intake Team during periods of managerial leave, this position will then entail being responsible and accountable for the operational performance, financial, quality and risk management of the Residential unit.
Some of the key responsibilities will be:
Communicate with young people and relevant family and/or workers to organise for intake assessment.
Assess young person for suitability for admission into YSAS Residential Withdrawal Units.
Facilitation of and participation in daily morning intake and allocation meeting.
Assessment and management of substance withdrawal in collaboration with the primary health team
This position will provide management coverage to the Residential units and Intake Team during periods of managerial leave, this position will then entail being responsible and accountable for the operational performance, financial, quality and risk management of the Residential unit.
Provide clinical expertise with regard to assessment, treatment and care planning, information on treatment options to clients.
