Although this role is currently structured as 5 days a week, there is scope for someone to reduce the role to 4 days a week, if this is your preference.
The Organisation:
With multiple projects and operations across Australia, this national player based in Darra is currently recruiting for a Senior Payroll Officer who has a combination of sound payroll skills coupled with a strong customer service approach. This represents a busy and varied role that will require you to take ownership of their end-to-end payroll function. The Financial Controller has been described as experienced and supportive. He doesn't micro-manage people and wants someone who can work well autonomously. Although this is a permanent opportunity and we can wait if you have a 4 week notice, it will be a huge advantage if you can start sooner.
The Position:
As a Senior Payroll Officer with experience working in a full-function payroll capacity, you will ultimately be responsible for managing the pay for around 180 employees. Your role will include:
- Completing weekly and monthly pay runs,
- Setting up new employees on the system
- Managing any issues arising from terminations or resignations.
- Interpreting an EBA and a couple of awards.
- Support the finance team with month-end and year-end processes including superannuation, payroll tax, and worker's compensation.
To be considered for this role, it is imperative that you are able to demonstrate sound full-function payroll experience, preferably on larger systems. To truly succeed and differentiate yourself in this position, you will need great attention to detail, a proactive approach and the ability to integrate yourself seamlessly into new work environments. The payroll department has a reputation internally within the business as being an excellent service provider to its employees and contractors so the ability and willingness to provide extremely strong customer service when dealing with people is essential. Sage Micropay experience will be highly advantageous.
