As a Senior Payroll Officer, you will play a crucial role in upholding these values by overseeing payroll process and working alongside a talented team driving a seamless payroll experience for our internal team members.

As the Senior Payroll Officer, you'll take charge of payroll processing for our corporate business, ensuring timely and accurate payments while upholding internal policies, industry awards, and legislative standards. Your expertise in payroll operations will be instrumental in driving efficiency and compliance across the organisation. As part of our drive to increase efficiency and user experience this role will also be involved in project work centred around our new HRIS implementation system. As part of your responsibilities you will;
- Process end-to-end payroll and off-cycle payments for designated pay run groups, meeting all deadlines with utmost accuracy.
- Conduct analytical checks within time and attendance systems, ensuring data integrity and compliance with company policies.
- Handle out-of-system processes such as parental leave, WorkCover, and salary adjustments with precision and efficiency.
- Address payroll queries promptly and effectively, providing clear explanations on award interpretation, superannuation, and taxation.
- Maintain accurate payroll records, including employment changes, part-time roster variations, and leave accruals.
- Uphold governance, risk, and compliance standards, ensuring all tasks align with regulatory requirements and internal audit protocols.
- Generate timely and accurate reports for internal stakeholders, supporting month-end procedures and ad hoc requests.
- Foster teamwork and professional development within the payroll team, providing support, guidance, and training as needed.
More about You
We are looking for someone with the following Qualifications & Experience:
- You will have a sound understanding of the General Retail Industry Award 2020; exposure to related industry awards preferred.
- Familiarity with LSL, ATO, and superannuation regulations; strong technical knowledge of payroll processes.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively.
- Certificate III or Diploma in Payroll or Accounting; additional certifications such as TAPS/Australian Payroll Association training are advantageous.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a Senior Payroll capacity, preferably in a similar-sized organisation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel (VLOOKUPS, pivot tables); experience with Preceda Payroll, Dayforce and HumanForce is a plus.
