About the Role
The Senior Payroll Officerprovides operational support for high volume payroll function. The role is 2IC to the Payroll Manager and will act in the role during leave or other absences.
- Mentor and provide direction to Payroll Officers.
- Accurate and timely processing of end-to-end payroll.
- Calculation and process termination pay, Workcover, paid parental leave and deduction.
- Preparation of payroll reports.
- Maintenance of employee and payroll master files.
- Ensure compliance with payroll legislation and enterprise agreements.
- Ensure timely resolution of payroll queries.
- Preparation of all State and Federal tax obligations including PAYG, tax Payroll tax and Superannuation Guarantee contributions.
- Collaborate with wider finance team on a range of projects.
- Operating within the internal control framework.
- Proactively identify continuous improvement opportunities.
About You
The Senior Payroll Officer will bring a genuine passion to make a difference in the lives of young people and our communities, holding certain attributes and demonstrated knowledge and experience.
These include:
- 5+ years of experience in similar roles.
- Experience in dealing with the ATO, Service Australia and Superannuation clearing houses.
- Experience in high volume payroll environment is desirable.
- Knowledge of Modern Awards and other state and industry legislation.
- Leadership experience is desirable.
- Advanced computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office.
- Technology One experience is advantageous.
- Desirable but not essential to hold a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or similar relatable field.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Communication skills appropriate for various audiences with differing degrees of financial knowledge.
- Ability to identify and solve issues.
- Can take on responsibility, accountability and work independently.
