About the role:
The Senior Payroll Officer will provide accurate, timely and efficient payroll services to Unitywater employees. They will act as a subject matter expert on all payroll topics, providing guidance to Payroll Officers and supporting the Payroll Manager as required. Key functions of the role include:
- Provide support to Payroll Manager to ensure common/team goals are met to a high standard.
- Coach and mentor Payroll Officers, ensuring consistency across the team with process and practices of the role.
- Provide expert advice and education on payroll legislation, policy, processes, tasks and requirements to Payroll Officers and the business.
- Assist the team to work together to ensure key activities are met within required timeframes.
- Act in the Payroll Manager role during periods of absence.
- End-to-end processing of approved wage records in a timely and accurate manner (manual and electronic).
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, including the interpretation of Modern Awards and EBAs.
About you:

- Extensive payroll experience.
- In-depth knowledge of payroll processes.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in the application of legislation related to Industrial Instruments, taxation, superannuation and relevant acts.
- Demonstrated understanding of Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- High level of numeracy skills, attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills, contributing to precise and accurate payroll management.
- High level investigative analysis and interpretation skills relevant to data, wage related matters and claims.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
