Be part of Centacare’s Foster Care program, which provides both specialist and general Foster Care for children aged 0-17 years in immediate, short term, long term and respite placements. Based in Seaton.
The Role
The Senior Placement Practitioner will have extensive case management experience in the field of child protection, comprehensive knowledge of Social Work theories, models and underpinning frameworks (including therapeutic interventions for children with high and complex needs) an in-depth knowledge of practical and structured in-home consultations, counselling services and an ability to provide expert advice to the team, whilst managing competing priorities. The Senior Foster Carer Worker will positively promote the program and a culturally safe environment, support Foster Carers and staff members, contribute to program development and innovation, as well as the team’s professional development and work closely with the Manager.

What you need to bring
Essential
- Social Work degree or equivalent
- Valid Department of Human Services (DHS) Working with Children Check
- Valid Driver’s Licence
- Understanding of therapeutic approaches for children and young people with trauma backgrounds
- Knowledge of Child Protection Legislation
- Understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) Placement Principles
- Extensive Assessment/Case Management experience
- Experience in working in the In Care Sector
- Knowledge of therapeutic care and trauma-informed practice
- Experience in leadership roles is highly desirable
- Ability to do some work outside of standard hours when required
- Safe Environments for Children and Young People certificate
