We are looking for a Senior Planner to lead a team accountable for safely maintaining our assets through effective preparation and delivery of maintenance planning and scheduling.

This role presents a fantastic opportunity to draw on your people leadership skills and technical knowledge. Positively develop and support your team; enabling operational, quality and budget requirements to be met, whilst driving safety excellence and positive team culture.

Your demonstrated ability to engage, connect and positively influence will prove valuable to the effectiveness of this role. You will partner with operational and other key stakeholders to provide efficient maintenance planning and productivity solutions and ensuring best practice work management processes are understood and adhered to.

Reporting to the Superintendent Maintenance Planning, you will be working in a challenging and exciting environment within the Boyne Smelters Maintenance Planning Team:

What you’ll bring

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Leadership experience and confidence in leading, developing, and coaching team members
  • Experience in a trade or engineering role in a maintenance environment or equivalent similar planning role
  • Experience with CMMS/SAP for budget development, resource levelling and related tasks
  • Experience in preparing annual budgets and costs management
  • Demonstrated ability in meeting targets and bringing the team on a journey of continuous development
  • Demonstrated complex problem-solving abilities to deliver solutions across an operation
  • Strong data and risk analysis and statistics skills
  • Knowledge of asset inventory life cycles
  • A highly organised, structured & detailed approach to planning with a strong commitment to safety.
  • Well-developed communication skills via all mediums with the ability to negotiate positive outcomes across multiple stakeholders.

Where you’ll be working

Boyne Smelters Limited is Australia’s second largest aluminium smelter with a 1,000-person strong workforce. Located approximately 20km south east of Gladstone at Boyne Island on the Central Queensland coast, BSL produces around 500,000 tonnes of aluminium per annum.

Activities at BSL include manufacturing carbon anodes in the carbon plant, aluminium production (smelting) in reduction lines, and casting of molten material into aluminium products ready to ship. The smelter is connected via a conveyor belt to the Queensland Alumina Limited refinery for the supply of alumina.
