About the Position
The Planning Services team has an opportunity for an experienced statutory Planner to make their next career step as a Senior Planner. This role offers a unique experience to develop your planning skills within a booming growth Council in the northern Perth corridor. The successful appointee will be responsible for:
- Processing development applications and subdivision referrals within the statutory timeframes;
- Processing structure plans and scheme amendment proposals within statutory timeframes;
- Preparing high-quality reports based on the required standards for Council, JDAP and DRP;
- Providing support to team members as required;
- Responding to customer queries in a timely manner and in accordance with City values;
- Exercising delegation on planning applications in accordance with the City's Delegated Authority Register; and
- Guiding and mentoring planners and their workloads.
About You
The successful appointee must be an adaptable, experienced Planner who thrives working in a very busy and change driven organisation. Applicants must be able to demonstrate through their CV and covering letter that they meet the following capabilities:
- Tertiary qualification in relevant discipline such as Urban and Regional Planning;
- Relevant experience in a similar role is desirable;
- In depth knowledge and experience in the application of planning legislation;
- A high level working knowledge of complex issues affecting land use management and demonstrated ability to analyse and proactively resolve issues that involve a number of competing priorities with minimal guidance;
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively rather than competitively and with a client focus, utilising effective communication skills.
- Advanced organisational skills with the ability to prioritise competing tasks;
- Strong report writing skills; and
- C Class Driver's Licence.
