Our intergovernmental relations and national policy team works at the forefront of the national health reform agenda, undertaking analysis and providing strategic policy advice to the Minister for Health and Mental Health and the Director General to manage the risks and harness the opportunities of this dynamic operating environment, during this transformational time.
This includes supporting WA Health in national intergovernmental forums, negotiating Commonwealth-State government funding agreements and advising the WA Minister for Health and the Director General at national Health Ministers’ Meetings and Health Chief Executive Forums.
Our team works with colleagues in the Department and Health Service Providers, central agencies and Health Departments across Australia on issues that cover the whole health portfolio. The Department of Health is looking to create a pool of suitable applicants to fill future Senior Policy Officer and Program Officer vacancies within the Intergovernmental Relations and National Policy team:
- Senior Policy Officer (Level 6), National Policy - to support a range of national policy and intergovernmental relations functions with an initial focus on national disability and/or aged care reform, including the establishment of sector-wide partnerships. Depending on portfolio, activities may include provision of secretariat services for the Ministerial Advisory Panel on Aged Care and/or policy advice on the interface between health, disability and aged care.
- Program Officer (Level 5), Intergovernmental Relations – to support a range of intergovernmental relations functions, with an initial focus on briefing coordination and support for Health Ministers Meetings and Health Chief Executives Forums.
