The Role:
We have a permanent position for a Senior Procurement & Stores Officer to join our team in Ballarat, our SEM Fire and Rescue Division, has been building emergency service vehicles for more than 65 years. We supply innovative vehicles to numerous fire and many other emergency services and private customers, both locally and overseas.
Duties and Responsibilities:
This is a new, permanent position created to add experience and structure to a very busy, complex and bespoke company that supplies innovative vehicles to numerous fire and many other emergency services and private customers, both locally and overseas.
The role involves:
- Overseeing a team of 4 (stores and purchasing)
- Negotiating pricing and terms with domestic and international suppliers
- Collaborating with Engineering to identify and develop potential new suppliers
- Managing all in-bound/out-bound logistics for domestic and overseas markets
- ERP System responsibility for data accuracy and material control
- Resolving quality issues and pricing fluctuations
- Cost management
- Expediting Orders
- Planning, placing and scheduling of orders to support Production needs and ensuring materials are available when required
- Working with suppliers to drive improvement and cost and efficiencies
Skills & Experience:
- Proven working experience in Team Supervision
- Previous experience in purchasing, vendor management and shipping in a Manufacturing environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills when working with internal/external customers
- Solid understanding of dealing with domestic and overseas logistics
- Strong judgement and decision making skills
- High attention to detail
- ERP experience (Epicor favourable)
- Proficient in MS office and MS excel
- Highly organized
- Problem solving & continuous improvement
