Your new role
Working under limited direction, the role is responsible for managing the Capital Program project accounting, financial modelling for business cases and supporting the strategic funding accounting activities. Key responsibilities will include:
- Ensure project costs are recorded under the relevant project and costs are appropriately capitalised.
- Support the development of reporting systems and processes to enable detailed analysis of actuals against budget and forecast
- Prepare accurate and timely financial management reports and papers for various committees and senior management
- Provide financial performance and project cost information in support of project control delivery including project life to date expenditure against schedule (earned value).
- Provide financial analytical support for the capital program including identification of potential financial risks through variance analysis of key business drivers.
- Provide stakeholders with timely, insightful and forward-looking advice to assist with operations
- Engage and partner with key stakeholders to provide financial reporting
- Engage stakeholders to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of Finance & Procurement Services.
What you'll need to succeed
- Strong knowledge of finance related standards and legislation.
- Experience in financial management of capital projects, including strong financial modelling.
- Demonstrated high level Microsoft Excel / modelling and analytic skills.
- Experience in the provision of high-quality financial accounting services including project accounting and reporting.
- Strong organisational skills with demonstrated ability to execute projects on time and budget.
- Demonstrated experience in the collection, manipulation, analysis and reporting of data.
- Demonstrated ability to promote the organisational values of integrity, respect, collegiality, excellence and discovery, and a commitment to positively comply with the associated behaviour expectations.
- Degree qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or progress towards postgraduate qualifications and extensive Project Accounting experience
