Our Project Delivery team within our Western Program Alliance (WPA) are looking for a VPS5 Senior Project Engineer, with skills in project management methodology and building relationships to join their award-winning team.
As the Senior Project Engineer you will work as part of a large team that consists of other engineers, legal professionals, commercial gurus, strategic communications legends, and all sorts of other wonderful people that make up part of our Western Program Alliance – working together to deliver level crossing removal projects in the western suburbs of inner Melbourne.
On a day-to-day basis, you might find yourself:
- Chairing meetings with stakeholders from within the alliance and from across LXRP, facilitating discussions in those meetings, taking minutes, and summarising them back to the business as needed.
- Reading technical documents, summarising the information, and posing key questions back to the creator/author.
- Reviewing and interpreting technical drawings related to the project and providing feedback/comments.
This is a 3 year fixed term position, paying a salary between $105, 479 and $127,621 + superannuation + 17.5% leave loading. We embrace a hybrid working arrangement (a mix of office and home/remote based working). The office you will be working from is located in Footscray (only a few kms out of the Melbourne CBD) and you will also have the option to access flexible working and job share arrangements if you need them – many LXRP employees work flexibly.
About you
You are someone that gets excited about throwing yourself into new projects and figuring things out. Resourcefulness is your middle name – you like to be given the trust and space to work things out for yourself and take pride in continuous improvement (ie. finding new and better ways of doing things and sharing with the team).
You might be currently working as a Project Engineer, and ready for your step up to senior. You might be working in a Rail Systems role and want to sidestep into a more holistic project management type position.
Let's get technical – what skills do we expect you to have?
- Some previous experience in an engineering role
- Accountability – you know what you don't know, you own your decisions, and you're passionate about delivering great work.
- Strong communication skills – both verbal and written. Communication is key to your success in your role.
- An understanding of how major transport infrastructure projects work – whether you've lead one in the past, been part of one or just know all the in's and out's of one.
