Why This Role Matters:
The Senior Project Officer, EDI and Student Experience plays a key role within Arts, Design & Architecture (ADA) in providing project management and support for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion as well as Student Experience initiatives in ADA. Aligned with the UNSW, ADA, and EDI priorities, this role will plan, manage, and collaboratively deliver the faculty-based Gateway programming as well as support Student Experience related activities. This position assists to achieve the objectives of the Faculty’s Equity Diversity and Inclusion program in relation to developing student access and support activities, including development of appropriate strategies, design and delivery of projects and evaluation of outcomes.
Based in the Student Experience Team, this role will work closely with the ADA Educational Excellence Manager and the Deputy Dean Education, to work collaboratively with academic and professional staff across the Faculty to further engage with the Gateway Program to reach our equity targets.
Accountabilities:

- Contribute to the delivery of key ADA Student Experience programs and initiatives to achieve operational and strategic goals, particularly with regards to Gateway and EDI.
- Assist with the design, and management of projects to actively engage with and support EDI initiatives at all stages of the project lifecycle. This includes the Gateway Summer, Winter, and Spring Programs, and all related events and activities. The role will also plan and manage the faculty’s discipline-level academic support for Gateway.
- In consultation with the Student Experience Manager devise broad-ranging and innovative new Faculty initiatives, develop, and deliver detailed proposals, scoping documentation and project plans that include benchmarking, best practice and recommendations for action to achieve EDI goals.
- Undertake end-to-end project management, including project design, development, implementation, communication, documentation and evaluation and support the Faculty’s decision makers in critical matters related to EDI and Student Experience.
- Organise and facilitate meetings, workshops, information sessions, briefings, etc.
- Analyse and report on the effectiveness of projects through development and delivery of progress reports and evaluations.
- Monitor, track and report on the status of project deliverables to ensure time, cost and quality metrics are in line with approved project plans for assigned projects.
Skills and Experience:

- A relevant degree or equivalent, with subsequent relevant experience in delivering EDI initiatives for higher education, or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through any other combination of education, training, and/or experience.
- Experience in delivering improved outcomes and results for student equity cohort groups in a higher education setting.
- An understanding of issues facing tertiary education students and the key issues facing students from a variety of backgrounds.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure with sensitive and confidential matters.
- High level communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to build relationships and interact effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Strong presentation skills including the ability to engage with a wide variety of audiences using modern media technology.
- Proactive working style, demonstrating efficiency, initiative and attention to detail.
- An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
