Job description

The Fleet Delivery team is responsible for leading fleet operations, fleet strategy and mechanical services, and provides repairs and maintenance of fit for purpose heavy, light, and medium commercial fleet vehicles and associated equipment to all members of QFES. Through the full lifecycle management and best practice approach to the fleet and equipment management, we ensure all assets and equipment are managed strategically and maintained to meet the complex environment in which they are deployed and utilised, and to meet operational capability and organisational objectives.
Reporting to the Executive Manager, you will be a key member of the team, working with both the Fleet Technical Officers and Workshop Supervisors to develop and standardise statewide fleet management plans and standards (including repairs/maintenance, replacement, and refit) of QFES fleet assets. You will oversee the administration of QFES's maintenance software "FleetWave" and provide advice and training to support the business needs and establish document control procedures. Utilising your strong project management principles and contract management framework you will map QFES's complex delivery program and provide real time reporting on delivery programs and supplier issues, including to undertake various procurement activities and facilitate the establishment of long-term supplier arrangements across 8 workshops that ensure effective service delivery.

As a department our purpose is to help the community to prevent, prepare for, respond to and recover from the impact of Fire and Emergency events.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) is the primary provider of fire, rescue and Emergency management programs and services throughout Queensland. The department encompasses the Fire and Rescue Service, disaster management services, the Rural Fire Service and the State Emergency Service (SES), and also supports other volunteer groups providing emergency response to Queenslanders.
QFES is one department with many services, many capabilities and many partners.
Purpose of the role

Key requirements
Highly desirable requirements

  • Experience and/or qualifications in project management and understanding of project management methodologies, process, and procedures.
  • Understanding of benefits realisation and experience in supply chain management techniques and contract management principles.
  • Experience in document control, systems administration, and establishment of document/file standardisation.
Your key accountabilities
Your part in the ongoing success of our department, in supporting key frontline services will see you responsible for a variety of work, including, but not limited to:
  • Contribute to the implementation of systems and administration strategies and plans of large scale, fleet projects, milestones, and any associated tasks in line with QFES project management methodologies to ensure program deliverables and timeframes are achieved.
  • Provide system administration of QFES maintenance System "FleetWave" including training, fault reporting and producing monthly management reports ensuring effective information sharing and delivery of quality data..
  • Develop and implement best practice strategies, standards, and frameworks to improve statewide service provision and monitor outcomes for fleet asset and maintenance programs.
  • Provide quality and timely advice to key stakeholders relating to fleet program issues and initiatives to enable effective decision making, continuous improvement and ensure value for money outcomes for entire vehicle lifecycle.
  • Undertake various procurement activities and oversee the performance of third-party and external support vendors to ensure contractual agreements are achieved in line with agreed business service level agreements.
  • Prepare and review briefs, submissions and reports on Fleet Delivery and services related issues and initiatives, in accordance with departmental requirements and timeframes.
  • Liaise, consult, and negotiate with key internal and external stakeholders to identify technical and operational implications, and ensure desired timeframes are achieved through the coordination of administrative activities with the regional workshop administration team.
  • Undertake sourcing initiatives including research and development of design specifications, tendering documents, evaluation and implementation of a centralised asset replacement and maintenance program.
