About the role
The NPWS Blue Mountains Branch has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Officer to deliver a diverse range of new visitor facilities in one of the branches newest reserves.
We are looking for highly motivated individuals with the initiative, ability and desire to work in small, dynamic and productive teams. Previous achievement in delivering construction projects within a natural resource setting or those with remote area logistic challenges will be highly regarded. Experience in and an understanding of visitor facilities and park infrastructure development would be highly beneficial. An understanding of environmental impact assessment processes and some public sector knowledge would be desirable.
About you
As a Senior Project Officer you will be responsible for planning, approvals, stakeholder engagement, procurement, budget management, contract supervision and delivering capital improvement works within required deadlines and to quality standards.
Your passion for cultural heritage and the environment, coupled with a strong attention to detail and proficiency in project management will be key to your success in this role. You'll be adept in providing high level specialist advice and information to stakeholders on emerging project issues and to support project development and delivery in line with established plans, budgets, timeframes, policy and environmental objectives and project priorities.
You will have the ability to undertake procurement and contract management, including contractor supervision of works projects.
Essential requirements
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications or demonstrated equivalent, relevant professional experience.
- Project management skills and experience with an understanding of contemporary best practice in procurement, tendering and contract preparation, in managing project teams, consultants and contractors, and in applying environmental safety and risk management policies and systems.
- Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing and reviewing strategic plans, policies and programs, and in providing strategic and operational advice and recommendations to senior management.
