The Team
Based in our Tasmanian State Office in Hobart, you will join a high-performing team, whose work is integral to the agency’s readiness to deliver federal elections and other electoral events, and the proper conduct of those events in accordance with the AEC’s Electoral Integrity Framework.
The Tasmanian State Office is known as the Project Support Unit and oversees administration of our five federal electoral divisions.
The Project Support Unit is responsible for planning, delivery, and evaluation of a range of projects that support state-wide event delivery, governance, and corporate support functions for the state, including contract and financial management, and providing other critical support to our divisional network, which is the operational arm of the AEC in Tasmania.
The Project Support Unit works closely with our divisional teams located in Hobart, Launceston, and Burnie.
The Opportunity
The Senior Project Officer reports to the Assistant Director and is responsible for the day-to-day management of matters relating to governance, corporate support, and centralised election-readiness functions, Planning and delivering specific election-delivery projects, including managing project timeframes, and resourcing, and ensuring project goals are achieved in accordance with policy and procedure, and managing one or more Project Officers.
At election time, the role may also be required to take on new responsibilities at short notice, as agency priorities necessitate and as directed by management.
As a senior member of staff, the Senior Project Officer is expected to undertake planning for short-term tasks, while also contributing to strategic planning for longer-term initiatives. Engaging positively, regularly and work closely with divisional staff, management, and other key internal and external stakeholders, and model a commitment to ongoing learning and development. Help to build the technical capability of more junior staff, and make an active contribution to the Tasmanian leadership team.
