Based at the Western Range Project site on a fly in / fly out basis (2 & 1 roster) we are looking for a Senior Project Planner to join our team- You can expect to extend and progress your career as we continue to grow our project portfolio. Our Planners are responsible for setting up and monitoring the project schedule and progress while reporting delays and working as an essential project team member to mitigate delays and productivity issues. This position is critical to successful project delivery and requires good skills and experience in the use of P6 to ensure effective project planning, tracking and delivery. This position will work closely with other members of the planning / commercial team.
The Project
Civmec have secured the award of a major construction contract for the Rio Tinto Western Range Project at their Paraburdoo site in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.
The iron ore project includes Greenfields and Brownfields scope with the construction of a new Run of Mine (ROM) pad, primary crushing facility, overland conveying circuit and modifications to the Coarse Ore Stockpile (COS) and downstream conveying system.
The Greenfields scope includes a new primary crushing facility, discharge conveyor and transfer station and a 17-kilometre overland conveying system that transfers the ore through to the existing Paraburdoo COS. The overland conveying system includes multiple conveyor flights, transfer stations and creek crossings to link the new primary crusher to the existing process plant.
The Brownfields scope includes extensive modifications to the current Paraburdoo COS and downstream conveying system. This includes addition of new feed points at the COS, new ore transfer equipment, conveyor replacements, conveyor upgrades, drive replacements and a range of other general modifications to receive the new ore stream.
The RoleWill include the following activities;
- Monitoring baseline schedules and reporting any schedule risks to Project Management.
- Produce and maintain the critical path with key events and milestones identified.
- Develop basis of schedule documents as and when required.
- Develop resource loaded and levelled detailed project execution schedules.
- Track progress against the baseline and report using earned value principles.
- Regularly analyse the execution schedule against the baseline manager.
- Manage contingency float within the schedule to reduce risk in the critical path.
- Track performance and progress against actual hours and produce productivity trends.
- To provide weekly progress reports including s-curves and histogram manning profiles.
- Provide weekly lookahead schedules.
To be successful in the role you will possess the following:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications within Engineering, Construction management or similar
- Intermediate to advanced skills in Primavera P6 and Microsoft Excel
- 3+ years of project planning experience on Construction Projects ideally in the mining or oil and gas sector
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to work as an effective team member
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
