Job description
You will be responsible for the improvement of productivity through implementation of business initiatives; detailed documentation and reporting in line with statutory requirements; assisting in negotiations for compulsory acquisitions; liaising with stakeholders and undertaking community consultation; interpreting and applying legislation; coordinating and processing complex land acquisition, access and tenure matters to ensure the smooth running and delivery of proponent projects.
Key duties:
* Provide high level technical advice and support to ensure the effective and efficient coordination of statutory processes under the:
o State Development and Public Works Organisation Act 1971.
o Strong and Sustainable Resource Communities Act 2017.
* Provide advice to senior executives, and key project stakeholders on legislation interpretation, application and amendment; operational matters; and project delivery mechanisms under the SDPWO Act.
* Coordinate the statutory aspects of regionally diverse and significant land acquisition initiatives and collaborate and assist Project Managers as required to progress key statutory elements of more complex projects to deliver expected outcomes.
* Undertake research and analysis on matters to assist in the progression of major projects and land acquisition and management deliverables, as directed.
* Assist in the negotiation of compensation for compulsory acquisitions, or voluntary purchases with landowners and liaise with construction entities, local government, and state agencies to ensure current market valuations are identified and utilised.
* Assist in the negotiation of professional contractor agreements and provide contract management support as required.
* Assess and analyse major project development proposals, including potential policy issues and project feasibility, in context to land tenure requirements and constraints.
* Prepare timely and well researched briefings, reports, submissions, and correspondence.
* Represent the Office of the Coordinator-General as required in meetings and forums, and establish effective and positive relationships across the Office, department, government (local, state and/or federal), statutory bodies and private sector organisations on project matters, including landowners and their legal representatives.
* Provide assistance to the Coordinator-General's internal and external solicitors in the carriage of litigation matters arising from the compensation process for land acquisition, which includes attending settlement negotiations and mediations.
* Assist in the efficient management of land owned by the Coordinator-General, and promptly respond to and/or escalate emergent issues.
* Provide timely and accurate project delivery and administrative support to project teams by maintaining up to date function data in the division's operational reporting project management and database systems.
