We are seeking a Senior Specialist to join our Diesel Transition Program team to perform a variety of program and financial management activities including supporting budget reporting and control, schedule tracking and reporting processes across the portfolio of DTP projects. This a great opportunity for a motivated individual to join a fast-paced team and play a pivotal role in contributing to the management and delivery of a portfolio of diesel abatement projects that spans across the Rio Tinto Group.
Reporting to the Portfolio Manager, you will be responsible for:
- Coordinating and controlling high-level budgeting, forecasting, accounting, and reporting activities for all projects within the Diesel Transition portfolio
- Supporting DTP to deliver annual financial plans, expenditure and funding requests, rolling forecasts, project initiation and administration, and developing consolidated views of plans/ forecasts
- Providing guidance, coaching and training to stakeholders to support DTP governance processes including financial and project reporting to various internal customers and utilising Rio Tinto standardised reports e.g. Prospect cost reporting
- Supporting relationships with internal and external stakeholders e.g. project leads, Energy & Climate, Commercial, Finance, Office of the Chief Scientist, consultants, Rio Tinto Product Group
- A bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in project management, accounting, finance, business or a related field
- Exceptional system skills (including SAP, PowerBI, data analysis and Excel pivot tables) with an ability to maintain effective reporting mechanisms to ensure internal stakeholders are provided with insightful and appropriate analysis of financial performance
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to simplify and communicate financial information and processes to a range of stakeholders
- Proven problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability and interest in challenging operational processes to find more effective ways of operating
- Effective relationship building skills with an ability to coach, guide and influence colleagues across different teams towards mutually beneficial outcomes
- CPA (chartered professional accountant) designation
- Previous Portfolio management experience in a large and complex, multi-disciplinary environment
