Atlassian is on the lookout for a Senior Tax Accountant that is passionate about Employee Benefits. This role reports to our Australian Tax Manager and will be focused on the fringe benefits tax (or equivalent) obligations in Australia, New Zealand, Philippines and Netherlands. This is primarily a remote position. With a sufficient timezone overlap with the team, we're able to hire eligible candidates for this role from any location in Australia. Our office is in Sydney, but we offer flexibility to work remotely. Your future team
Our tax team is comprised of people with backgrounds in business, tax and accounting. We work in a complex tax world and make the complicated, uncomplicated.
In this role, you will be responsible for the following:
Identify and track Employee Benefits
Prepare fringe benefits tax returns for Australia, New Zealand and Philippines
Calculation of reportable fringe benefits
Prepare WKR calculations for inclusion in Netherlands payroll tax returns
Arrange fringe benefits tax payments and associated accruals
Research the tax implications of new benefits proposed
Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g. workplace experience, payroll and benefits teams) and external advisors
Assist the team on other projects outside FBT
On your first day, we'll expect you to have:
Accounting qualifications (Masters of Taxation and/or CA/CPA)
Proven experience in fringe benefits tax (commerce and/or chartered practice)
Strong tax and legal research skills, including the interpretation of tax office rulings and provisions in tax legislation
Experience solving complex tax issues and working in a fast paced environment
Strong Excel skills (can maintain complex spreadsheets)
Experience with Alteryx or a keen interest to learn
Strong problem solving skills
Experience managing cross-functional projects and collaborating with different stakeholders
