Senior Town Planner or Experienced Town Planner
Trident Town Planning was established in Bendigo in 2023 to compliment Trident Building Surveying, which has been in operation since March 2020. Since its inception the planning division has experienced fast paced and continuing growth; as such we are seeking a suitably qualified and enthusiastic Town Planner to join the team.

The Opportunity
We are seeking a senior dynamic, experienced Town Planner to join our Victorian team to continue growth of our expanding planning-based services. The role includes working across a diverse and engaging suite of projects with a number of industry professionals and clientele to make a positive impact on developments within the state.
The role will also involve working collaboratively and proactively to ensure the efficient operation and growth of the planning division.
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end preparation and management of a wide range of planning applications on behalf of Trident Town Planning clients. Proactive communication with our clients, local authorities and other governing agencies is a key aspect of the role to ensure projects are kept on track and moving forward.
The role is located within Bendigo; however, projects are spread across many municipalities across the state. The successful candidate will work closely with the Trident Building Surveying team, this includes working on shared projects/clients and providing or seeking technical planning advice to provide project advice.
The continued development and success of Trident Town Planning is also a key aspect of the role which includes process improvement, liaising with potential clients and undertaking professional development to ensure the organisation is providing up to date and quality advice to our clients and team.
Key aspects of the role:
- Preparation and end to end management of a wide range of planning applications.
- Development of policy and procedures for the planning division.
- Client procurement and management to promote growth within the division.
- Site inspections to support planning applications.
- Engagement and liaising of third-party consultants to assist with planning submissions where required (e.g. LCA assessors, traffic management consultants).
- Report development and creation of required services for the planning division.
- Providing assistance to the technical team in relation to planning overlay requirements and/or planning permit triggers.
- Using existing software & equipment, develop processes and workflows for job management.
- Attendance of professional meetings, industry seminars and professional development where required.
- Maintaining a proactive approach to assist the client and achieve positive outcomes.
About The Ideal Candidate
The successful applicant will have:
- Completed tertiary level qualifications or currently working in a similar private or local authority role within the Victoria’s planning system.
- A high-level understanding of the Planning and Environment Act, Victoria Planning system and associated regulations.
- Demonstrated capabilities with planning projects of various complexities and dealing with a variety of stakeholders.
- Awareness of current planning, development, economic, social, and environmental issues.
- Ability to work autonomously.
- An enthusiastic, proactive, and friendly attitude.
- Previous experience with client procurement or assistance in this would be favourable.
- The ability to build rapport with clients and stakeholders.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- A genuine passion for planning.
Other experience or qualifications being considered but not essential
- Planning department management experience is adventitious but not essential.
- Knowledge in the areas of the Subdivision Act & Bushfire Management.
