About The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Town Planner to join our team. The Senior Town Planner will lead and manage the planning and development processes for various urban and regional projects. This role requires a deep understanding of urban planning principles, strong analytical skills, and the ability to navigate complex regulatory frameworks across multiple jurisdictions. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and passionate about creating sustainable and vibrant communities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive planning strategies and policies to guide urban and regional development projects.
  • Conduct research, data analysis, and demographic studies to assess community needs, growth trends, and environmental impacts.
  • Collaborate with government agencies, stakeholders, and community groups to gather input, address concerns, and promote consensus-building in the planning process.
  • Prepare and review zoning ordinances, land use regulations, and development proposals to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Evaluate development proposals, site plans, and subdivision plans for conformance with land use plans, zoning regulations, and design standards.
  • Conduct environmental assessments and impact studies to identify potential risks and opportunities associated with development projects.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to project teams, elected officials, and community members on planning-related matters.
  • Manage the preparation and presentation of planning reports, presentations, and recommendations to planning commissions, city councils, and other governing bodies.
  • Supervise and mentor junior planners and support staff, providing training, feedback, and professional development opportunities.
  • Stay informed about emerging trends, best practices, and legislative changes in the field of urban planning and apply knowledge to enhance planning processes and outcomes.

About You

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Urban Planning, Architecture, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in urban planning, with a focus on comprehensive planning, zoning, and land use regulations.
  • Proven track record of managing complex planning projects from conception to completion, including community engagement and stakeholder coordination.
  • In-depth knowledge of urban planning principles, land use law, and environmental regulations.
  • Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and apply technical data and planning principles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to facilitate meetings, present complex information, and build consensus among diverse stakeholders.
